How do I register to vote.

For the March 19, 2024 Presidential Primary Election

Illinois residents may register to vote in one of the following ways. 

*Dates apply to registering for the June 28, 2022 primary. 


 Online -  If you have an Illinois driver's license or state ID, you may register online through the Illinois State Board of Elections website. The registration period for the online voter registration system will close at 11:59 PM on 03/03/2024 and will reopen on 03/21/2024


 Paper/PDF - Must be postmarked 28 days before election day - by Tuesday February 20, 2024. 

 Fill out the Illinois Voter Registration Application and follow the instructions, which may be found HERE


 In Person - Eligible suburban Cook County residents can also register to vote in person with a 

certified registrar by going to:

1.) One of the Cook County Clerk's locations

2.) A village, city or township clerk

3.) An Illinois Secretary of State's drivers license facility. You can register to vote when you obtain or renew your driver’s license or state identification card at any of the license facilities. Registration is also available at other state government offices, including public assistance offices and military recruitment offices.

4.) Deputy registrars: Trained volunteer deputy registrars may register you to vote.


At the polls - You may register and vote at the polls!

Bring two acceptable forms of identification and you can register and vote at your local polling place on election day or at early voting locations.
